I got an email from GM on June 28 with the title line " A Complimentary Oil Change puts you in the GM Driver's Seat" and it was from 'Driver's Seat' (gmdriversseat@promos.gmrms.com). It goes on to say...
With gas prices rising in the Chicagoland area, GM is committed to helping Chicago drivers go farther on every tank of gas. We offer a wide array of vehicles with EPA estimates of 30 mpg highway or higher.
We've also made innovative engine advances that can help create greater fuel savings. The Top Ten Fuel Economy tips that you can follow are:
1. Plan your trips and driving routes to avoid traffic congestion and minimize stop lights
2. Observe speed limits
3. Accelerate moderately and smoothly
4. Maintain steady speeds
5. Limit the use of accessories such as air conditioning, heated seats and rear window defoggers
6. Don't carry more than you need
7. Make sure your vehicle is properly maintained
8. Avoid extended engine idle time
9. Get the most from Active Fuel Management (tm)
10. For towing and heavy duty usage - Closed body trailers with rounded corners minimizes wind drag and the front of the trailer should be hidden by the tow vehicle - Proper trailer maintenance is also key for maximizing fuel economy.
Proper maintenance is, of course, essential for all vehicles, and as our contribution to your vehicle's care, we are offering a COMPLIMENTARY oil change.†
It looks like it has something to do with that "Who Stole the Show" contest from not too long back. Anyways, you might want to check your emails!
