RULES/FAQ
HOW TO PLAY – The Rules of the Game:
The Sopranos A&E Connection is an online interactive game...a scavenger hunt meets fantasy sports. Collect game pieces that represent characters, settings, and objects from the world of The Sopranos on A&E. Then, each Wednesday when a new episode of The Sopranos airs on A&E, you'll earn points when the pieces in your collection appear in the show. The player who scores the most points at the end of Season 1 will win a suitcase with $100,000 in cash! Plus everyone has a chance to win weekly prizes just for signing up!
COLLECT...Ads for The Sopranos will double as game pieces – online, magazines, billboards and other media.
Seek out banner ads on the web that promote The Sopranos A&E Connection game and simply click on the ad. You'll be directed to the game's homepage (www.suitcaseofcash.com) and asked to create an account and log-in. Once logged-in your new game piece will automatically appear on your game board.
Game pieces will also appear in real-world ads such as magazines, billboards and posters promoting The Sopranos on A&E. Use a camera phone or digital camera to take a photo of these ads and email them to game@mobot.com. Using unique imaging technology, A&E will be able to recognize your photo and know which game piece you've collected. You'll receive an email or text message back confirming which game piece you have collected and that it's been added to your game board. When you log-in to the game's homepage (www.suitcaseofcash.com) you'll find your new game piece automatically added to your game board. Be sure to check the game's homepage for help finding pieces.
Regardless of how you collect game pieces, you‘ll earn 100 points for each new piece you collect.
PLAY...When you register, you'll get your own personal game board where you'll be able to arrange the game pieces in your collection. Every player will be given the same four (4) starter pieces upon registration. When a premiere episode of The Sopranos is broadcast on A&E (Wednesdays at 9pm/8C), you'll be able to watch your pieces light up and score points in real time based on the actions and events of the show. For example – if you have the Tony Soprano piece in your collection, then every time Tony appears on screen that piece will light up and score you 10 points. You'll continue to earn 10 points for the Tony piece for every 2 seconds he consistently appears on screen.
The way you place your pieces on the game board affects how many points you'll score. Pieces that are next to each other (horizontally or vertically) will score more points if they appear on screen together. So if you arrange the Tony piece next to the Cigar piece, you'll score double points (20 points for each piece) every time Tony and the Cigar appear on screen at the same time. If you arrange Tony, the Cigar and the Gold Chain game pieces next to each other and they appear together you'll earn triple points (30 points for each piece). There are also x2 and x3 bonus boxes scattered on the game board. Each piece placed on these squares will earn double or triple points. Become an A&E Insider – aetv.com/insider for tips and tactics on how to play.
Before each episode you will be able to re-arrange your pieces, based on which pieces you think will play a prominent role in that week's episodes. On Wednesdays at 8:45pm ET (15 minutes before the East Coast broadcast), every player's game board will lock and go into “Show Mode.” When your game board is in Show Mode, it's locked for the night and you won't be able to re-arrange your pieces until it unlocks. Game boards will unlock at approximately 3:00 AM (ET) shortly after the conclusion of the West Coast broadcast.
WIN...A&E will be giving away $100,000 cash Grand Prize to the player who has the most points at the end of Season 1. Each week there will also be a prize awarded to the player with the most points for that week's episodes plus random chances to win just for signing-up.
FAQ
How do I play the game?
Collect game pieces that represent characters, objects and settings from the world of The Sopranos online and in the real world, and score points every time those game pieces appear in an episode of The Sopranos on A&E.
Where do I find pieces?
Online pieces will appear as online ads on various websites. Whenever you see these ads simply “click” on them. You might want to try looking on the A&E website (www.aetv.com) to begin finding pieces. Real-world pieces will appear as magazine ads, billboards and posters promoting The Sopranos on A&E. Whenever you see one of these ads, take a photo of it with your camera phone or digital camera and send the image to game@mobot.com. Once recognized, you will receive a text or email confirming which piece you collected and that the game piece was automatically added to your game board.
When can I play the game?
Collect game pieces anytime between December 15, 2006 and February 21, 2007. The Sopranos on A&E will premiere new episodes every Wednesday at 9PM/8C beginning January 10, 2007. You can re-arrange the pieces on your game board each week up until 8:45 PM ET (5:45 PM PT) at which point your game board locks and will go into Show Mode. Show Mode lasts until after the conclusion of the West Coast broadcast (approximately 3AM ET.) During Show Mode you can watch your game board on the “My Collection” page to see how your pieces score during the episode.
What is Show Mode?
Show Mode is the duration of time that every player's game board is locked – preventing you from re-arranging your game pieces while the show is airing. Show Mode will last for the duration of both the East and West Coast broadcasts - from 8:45 PM ET to approximately 3:00 AM ET.
What happens if I collect a new piece during Show Mode?
Any new pieces collected during Show Mode are queued up and awarded to the player after Show Mode is over.
Do I have to be online to score points?
No, you don't have to be online to score points. You'll score points whether you are logged-in to the game or not. If you log-in during an episode you will be able to watch your pieces score from that point moving forward
What happens if my computer freezes/crashes during an Episode?
All scoring is tabulated by the Game's central computer and is not effected by an individual's computer
How exactly does scoring during the episode work?
Whenever a character, object or setting that corresponds to a game piece appears on screen, that piece will light up and score 10 points. As long as that element remains on screen, the piece will continue to score points - 10 points every 2 seconds. A collection of pieces touching horizontally or vertically is called a group. The points earned by a piece will be multiplied by the size of the group that piece is in. For example if you arrange Tony next to his bathrobe you'll earn 20 points for each piece when they both appear on screen together. Finally, points earned by pieces located on bonus squares will be doubled or tripled, based on the multiplier. Get a feel for how scoring works by playing the demo – click here to go to the demo.
Why are the setting game pieces different?
The setting game pieces will only score points when either the exterior of the location or the interior of a location are on screen – not both. Each setting game piece is clearly marked if it is an exterior or interior setting.
Will I earn points for every episode of The Sopranos on A&E?
You will only earn points for Premiere episodes that air every Wednesday beginning at 9PM/8C.
Why do I have to provide my Time Zone?
Providing your time zone allows us to synchronize the game so you can play the game in real time as you watch The Sopranos on A&E. Providing an incorrect time zone will not give you an advantage because every game board will lock in Show Mode just prior to the East Coast broadcast (Wednesdays at 8:45 PM ET / 5:45 PM PT)
Why is my game board scoring not in-synch perfectly with my TV?
Due to variation in the broadcast delay among cable and satellite providers, DVR's, etc. everyone's game board might not be perfectly synchronized. Any delay you might experience will not impact your score because the official score is tracked by the Game's central computer.
How many pieces are there?
There are a total of 36 game pieces. Since each player will be given the same four (4) pieces just for signing up, you'll only need to collect 32 to have a complete game board. You'll earn 100 points for every game piece you collect. Check out what all of the game pieces are here.
Why do I have 40 spaces on my game board?
The empty spaces on your board are there to help you re-arrange your game pieces. If you have all 36 game pieces you'll have 4 empty squares.
What is group play?
You can create a group in order to compete against your friends and see who scores the most points. Regardless of whether you are in a group or not the contest will be based against the entire universe of players.
Do I need a camera phone, digital camera, or internet access to play?
Players need access to the internet in order to register for the game, collect pieces and arrange their board. Every game piece will be available on-line so you do not have to own a camera phone or digital camera to play.
Are there any costs with submitting a game piece with a camera phone?
Standard message rates apply and are based on each player's wireless provider and individual calling plan.
Do I have to provide my cell phone number?
You only need to provide your cell phone number if you want to collect pieces using your cell phone. If you submit a game piece via your cell phone it will not be added to your collection until you have registered your cell phone number.
What if my game piece picture is not recognized?
When a submitted image cannot be recognized, the player will receive an email or text message to let them know. There are two primary reasons why your game piece would not be recognized. The first is because you took a photo of an image that wasn't an ad for The Sopranos on A&E. The second is because your photo did not completely have the image in view – be sure to focus and center on the ad to ensure your photo includes as much of the character, setting or object as possible.
Can I collect multiple versions of the same piece?
No, each player can only collect one of each piece and will only earn points for the first time you collect each piece. You will not earn points for submitting the same message twice and will receive a message confirming that you had already collected that particular game piece.
A game piece I submitted did not appear in my Collection Page, what do I do?
Once a game piece has been received by the Game's Headquarters you will receive a confirmation email or text message. Game pieces will only appear in a player's collection after they have received the confirmation email or text message. If you have received a confirmation and still don't see your game piece on your Collection Page, email: help@suitcaseofcash.com.
How long will it take to receive a confirmation email or text message?
It will depend on your online service provider or wireless network. In most cases you should receive a response in less than 1 minute.
I've lost my log-in or password, What do I do?

Does having seen The Sopranos or owning the DVDs give anyone an advantage?
Having seen The Sopranos could certainly be helpful in determining how best to arrange your game board, but it will not help you locate the game pieces or guarantee that you'll set your board in the most optimal arrangement for each week's episodes. Also, everyone who signs-up has a chance to win random weekly prizes regardless of their score. You can learn more about each episode by visiting www.aetv.com/thesopranos.
What can I win?
At the end of Season 1, prizes will be awarded to the Top 10 players based on their total cumulative score. The Grand Prize, for the player with the most points, is $100,000 cash.
